Why do independent schools need Annual Giving campaigns?

All independent schools, including church-supported schools, have some sort of annual giving drive. This campaign reflects the reality that annual giving is an essential part of the school's sound fiscal operation since tuition alone does not cover the cost of educating students. To keep tuition affordable, we raise additional money to support our programs through voluntary contributions to the Annual Giving campaign. These contributions, unlike tuition, are tax deductible.

Without your thoughtful and generous gifts, Explorer West cannot continue to attract the kind of teachers or offer the sort of programs that set us apart from other middle schools.

Who supports the Annual Giving campaign?

Our goal each year is to have 100% participation from all of our constituents: parents, faculty and staff, and the Board of Trustees. Alumni families and friends of the school are also important contributors.

Ask your employer for a matching gift. Many employers match charitable contributions. This is a great way to double your gift! Please consult your employer.

Make a gift of appreciated securities. Appreciated securities provide a significant tax savings for you by avoiding capital-gains taxes, plus, gifts are tax-deductible at fair market value. Please call the business office at (206) 935-0495.
